Businesses offered interest free loans to go green
The Carbon Trust has
begun offering over £100 million in interest free loans to help businesses
become more energy-efficient.
Announced in the
Budget, the additional funding is largely being delivered through the Trust’s
existing loan scheme over a two-year period.
In
Secretary of State for Energy and
Climate Change, Ed Miliband, is now urging firms to take advantage of the
scheme.
‘This real help […] means that
businesses in every corner of Britain can now improve their energy efficiency
and make real savings on their energy bills at a time when every penny counts,’
he said.
The Carbon Trust estimates that
the Government’s latest funding injection could reduce firms’ costs by up to
20%, saving them in excess of £20m a year in energy
bills.
